Elisabeth Rosenthal works in the fields of installation, sculpture, drawing on paper, and performance. Using individual works from various disciplines and semi-finished materials—such as foam mats, metal rods, and car tire inner tubes—she creates a space into which she enters as her alter ego, Sailor-Single. Equally important are her sanding drawings, in which elements from three-dimensional works are reflected, complementing them or foreshadowing future works. Rosenthal employs ritual gestures or architectural fragments drawn from human culture and explores, in particular, mimetic nature and the power of imagination. She primarily addresses longings for the unattainable and creates substitutes for what is missing. For Meinblau, she is developing an installation and will present drawings, sanding images, photographs, videos, and objects.
